Standoff in north Fargo ends peacefully; injured officer recovering

FARGO. ND. (KFGO AM) -- A Fargo man is in jail, accused of hitting and injuring a police officer with his van and then taking off.

Police caught up with 49-year-old Jack Christensen early Tuesday morning, at a north Fargo home, and it turned into a nearly five-hour-long standoff.

Police surrounded the home, and negotiators eventually talked him into surrendering.

Police have been searching for Christensen, since, about 8pm Monday night when the officer was injured.

Officer Brent Malson was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  He has since been released.

Malone is 25 years old and started as a patrol officer for the Fargo Police Department in July 2012.  Officer Malone's injury will require additional ongoing medical treatment.

Christensen is being held on a charge of aggravated assault, in connection with the attack on the officer.
