MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - A special corrections officer will be hired to handle overcrowding issues at the Clay County Jail.
The jail will lose six additional beds in January because of new state regulations, and more inmates will have to be housed in other facilities.
Jail Administrator Julie Savat says managing overcrowding issues has become a fulltime job. She says about 20-30 inmates are being shuffled out of the jail on a daily basis.
The budget for the new position was unanimously approved by county commissioners.
