BEMIDJI, Minn (AP) -- Authorities say a gunman has died after a four hour standoff with law enforcement officers at a home near Bemidji.
Family members identify him as Miquell Deppa.
They say he was 34.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says he died after being rushed to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, to be treated for gun a gunshot wound.
The BCA says officers were called to the home northwest of Bemidji around 5:00 Wednesday afternoon, on reports Deppa was distraught, armed with a rifle and threatening to kill himself or officers.
When he came out of the house, he pointed his gun at officers.
A SWAT Team sniper shot him--wounding him.
Deppa retreated into the home but came out a short time later, when he was arrested.
The officer who shot him is on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in situations like this.
