FARGO, N.D. (KFGO-AM) -- For most of the game it was a battle of the pitchers between the RedHawks and Sioux City Explorers in Iowa. Brian Ernst pitched 7 strong innings giving up two hits, one run, and striking out six while Explorers starter Dan Jurik left with a shutout after 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and fanning six RedHawks batters in the process.
The Explorers struck first with a run in the bottom of the 5th and looked to have the RedHawks baffled until C.J. Retherford drove home Zach Penprase with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th. The RedHawks seemed to have carried that momentum over into the 9th inning when they took the lead on a Mitch Einertson single that drove home Buddy Sosnoskie.
What seemed like a great ending for the RedHawks ended in the bottom of the 9th when the Explorers caught fire and tripled to score the first run then hit an infield single to bring home the winning run of the night.
Mitch Einertson was 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, comprising half of the teams hits.
