FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- It was extreme heat and increased power load that caused a power outage in Fargo Tuesday night affecting about 3,300 Xcel Energy customers.
Xcel's Mark Nisbet says a conductor failed and fell into another feeder, causing scattered outages throughout different parts of town. He says it was a complicated repair, and some people were without power longer than others.
Nisbet says on the plus side, they haven't had too many outages this year. The company has spent millions of dollars on upgrades. Nisbet says if a customer has more than three sustained outages in a year, Xcel will send them a $50.00 check at the end of the year.
