BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Sykes Enterprises Inc. has closed its call center in Bismarck.
Company Executive Vice President Dan Hernandez says operations were stopped in mid-July and that Sykes is trying to sell or lease the 42,000-square-foot building.
Phil Davis with Job Service North Dakota says Sykes filed a layoff notice with the agency a couple of months ago but didn't say how many workers were affected. Hernandez says the employees were offered the chance to work from home. He did not say how many people worked at the call center before it closed.
Sykes opened its center in Bismarck in 1996, saying it would employ up to 650 workers. The business received $4 million in incentives from the city.
