FARGO (KFGO-AM) - The North Dakota Air National Guard's Happy Hooligans flying days are over. The 119th Wing's final C-21 Learjet departed Tuesday for the Air Force Museum in Ohio.
This is the first time the unit has not had a manned flying mission in its 66-year history.
General Alexander MacDonald was commander of the Happy Hooligans for 13 years. MacDonald says he hopes someone “comes to their senses” and re-instates a flying mission.
Adjutant General Dave Sprynczynatyk says the 119th Wing's success is due to its dedicated people. He promised that someday, the unit will win back a manned flying mission.
