MOORHEAD, Minn (KFGO AM) -- Fire at a construction site on the Minnesota State University-Moorhead campus forced the temporary evacuation of more than 100 students in one of the residence halls.
The fire was reported just before 3:00 this morning.
A large amount of construction material, mostly roofing board and insulation, inside a security fence outside West Snarr Hall on 14th Street South was fully involved when fire units arrived on scene.
Because of the construction, the dorm was not yet occuppied.
But students in nearby East Snarr were cleared from their rooms for about 45 minutes as a precaution.
Fire Chief Greg Dodoen says heavy smoke pouring from the fire was toxic and they didn't want anyone close.
The fire is under investigation.
