FARGO (KFGO-AM) - It’s been a long couple of years for a Fargo doctor who was acquitted in a high-profile criminal case followed by a nasty divorce and child custody fight. But Jon Norberg is looking to the future. The state medical board has just reinstated his license.
Norberg was fired after the criminal charges were filed and he was sued by his former employer. The North Dakota Board of Medical Examiners has given his license back as long as he's monitored and meets certain professional criteria.
Norberg says he's still puzzled as to why the Cass County State's Attorney charged him with repeatedly drugging and raping his now ex-wife who suffered from chronic pain.
Norberg's lawyer in the case before the medical board, Randy Stefanson, says members of the jury even came to the defense of the doctor as he worked toward reinstatement.
Norberg has custody of his three children. He says he and his former wife, Alonna, also a doctor who no longer practices medicine, communicate mostly by text message and e-mail.
