Crews are working to contain a blowout at an oil well about a half-mile north of Lake Sakakawea in Mountrail County in western North Dakota.

An oil and gas mist was reported coming from the well late Thursday night.

Alison Ritter of the State Department of Mineral Resources tells KFGO News, the leak has not made its way to the lake and recovery and cleanup is beginning.

A wild well control team has been brought in by Slawson exploration, the operator of the well.

Its not yet known how much product leaked or what caused it.
