A video that sparked a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Richland County Sheriff's Office has been obtained exclusively by KFGO news.

The video shows a brief pursuit and a pickup with three men being pulled over in Abercrombie last August. The men in the pickup claim deputies Dan Wise and Steve Gjerdevig used excessive force.

Soon after the incident, Sheriff Larry Leshovsky says he ordered an internal investigation. Leshovsky says he stands by the deputies’ actions.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and suffering.
