Local - North Dakota State University To Win MVFC
The Bison football team received 24 of a possible 39 first place votes in the Missouri Valley Football Conference pre-season poll. Not really that surprising considering the Bison, despite the loss of all those seniors, return a ton of talent.
Some people may see the placing as a sign of respect for the 3-Time National Champions. I truly don't believe that. I think NDSU deserved this pick. However, the target on their pack is now easier to hit by South Dakota State University and the University of Northern Iowa than in years past.
Both teams have the top running backs in the MVFC, possibly in all of the FCS, in David Johnson (UNI) and Zach Zenner (SDSU) and NDSU will have to travel to UNI the week after playing SDSU at home.
It will be very tough for NDSU to led the pack from start to finish, like they have the last two years.
Regional - Twins Still Have All The Prospects
A list of the Minnesota Twins Top 20 prospects was recently updated and man it looked sexy. Kennys Vargas, Miguel Sano and look! Byron Buxton is not only the number 1 prospect in the Twins organization, but in all of friggin' baseball!
This is awesome. I mean, look at it! JUST LOOK AT IT! All that potential would make scouts salivate. The Twins probably have the best minor league system in all of baseball. And those pitching prospects! Some of these dudes are hitting mid to high 90s on the radar gun!
Do you hear that? That's us. We coming. WE COMING! With this list, the Twins will be winning the AL Central and World Series by.... 2018. Meanwhile, the MLB team is going to go ahead and sputter to another 90 loss season. But... You know. Prospects.
National - College Football vs. NFL
Most people are more excited to see the NFL kick-off than college football. Not me. I love college football. The pageantry, the rivalries, the history. It all makes for more entertaining football. Sure, you have those really bad games like LSU taking on their local community college, but you put up with that.
There just isn't anything better than a Saturday afternoon game. After a couple hours of tailgating, talking about what the keys to the game are, you shuffle into the stadium with 90,000 others, all clad in school colors.
There are school specific cheers, a live band and the head coach that is revered as a demigod in the community. There is the local hero playing quarterback, a guy who will never make it at the NFL, but for some reason, is unstoppable at the college level.
I love college football.
