It's a callow group that Bo Ryan puts on the floor tonight atthe Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls South Dakota. With only two seniors on the roster Ryan says this may be the youngest team he's ever had. And Bucky is facing a tougher than usual non-conference schedule starting tonight against St. Johns. Ryan said last week that strentgh of schedule will not be a problem this year. Along with the Red Storm tha Badgers will also face teams like Florida, St. Louis, Oral Roberts, West Virginia and Virginia along with the usual in state matchups with UWGB, UW-Milwaukee & Marquette. Ben Brust and Zach Bohannon are the only seniors but Wisconsin does boast some pretty good underclassmen including Sam Dekker and freshman Nigel Hayes & Vitto Brown. If Josh Gasser makes it back from his knee injury...If Traveon Jackson continues to develop...if Frank Kaminsky can give them some energy inside...the Badgers should be in the Top 25 all year and on to another run in the NCAA Tournament. The journey begins tonight and you can hear the game on WSAU..pre game at 5pm.
Both the Badgers and Packers face up-tempo teams this week. Gary Andersen is very familiar with BYU as he coached against them many times when he was at Utah State...and the Packer D will have to contend with Chip Kelly's manic offense led by Nick Foles who threw 7 tds last week. The Packer seconday will be tested again and you would think that the O led by Seneca Wallace will not put up as many points as usual.
Larry Sanders will not be charged in the bar fight the other night. The question remains if he can be the leader that the Bucks front office thought he could when they signed him to the big contract just a few months ago. He's pouting over playing time, struggling on the court and making bad decisions off the court...doesnt sound like a leader to me. The Bucks seem to have some guys who care about team more than individual stuff this year...I'm not sure yet if Sanders is one of them. They are 2-2 on the season and host Dallas on Saturday.
