VIDEO: Stephen Colbert calls out GOP for questioning Hillary's age

by Mike McFeely

I once had somebody tell me Stephen Colbert was an embarrassment to the conservative movement in this country because he came across as a buffoon.

Apparently, the satire of the "Colbert Report" was lost on this particular person.

So, just a heads-up: The following vignette from the "Colbert Report" is satirical. The comedian is calling out the Republican Party and its talking heads like Mike Huckabee and Rush Limbaugh for questioning Hillary Clinton's age, and whether she will be too old when/if she runs for president in 2016.

She would be 69 years old on Election Day.

The most interesting angle, of course, is that the president conservatives most love is Ronald Reagan -- who was 69 years old in 1980 when he was elected, and 73 when he was re-elected in 1984.

Also, Republican John McCain was 73 when he lost to Barack Obama in 2008.

So is it only women in their upper 60s and 70s who are unable to handle the rigors of office? Because it sure seems Mike Huckabee and Rush Limbaugh don't have a problem with older men being president.
