VIDEO: Cameras strapped to peregrine falcons show amazing video of the birds catching prey

by Mike McFeely

OK, this is cool.

Technology allows small, point-of-view cameras to be attached to peregrine falcons. The cameras let us, lowly humans, see what it is like when the magnificent falcon is hunting other birds.

If you don't know, peregrines hunt by diving at flying birds and knocking them out of the sky. When the falcons "stoop" or dive-bomb their prey, they sometimes reach speeds of more than 200 miles per hour (the highest recorded speed for a peregrine is 242 mph).

In other words, this video is awesome.
