UPDATE: Former Miami of Ohio interim head coach, Northern Colorado defensive coordinator apply at UND

by Mike McFeely

New applicants for the University of North Dakota football coaching job have slowed to a trickle, but a couple of more people in notable positions applied Thursday.

Michael Bath, who served as interim head coach at Miami of Ohio (an FBS school in the Mid American Conference) in 2013 has applied to replace Chris Mussman. Bath took over the RedHawks in October after the school fired Don Treadwell. The RedHawks finished 0-12, including 0-7 under Bath.

Miami hired Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chuck Martin as the full-time coach this week.

Bath has a nice resume. He was the quarterback and wide receiver coach for Miami the past three seasons. He was an assistant for the Redhawks for six years. He also played at Miami from 1998 to 2000.

He was a quarterback for Miami, going 23-10 and passing for 6,524 yards and 49 touchdowns.

Another Big Sky Conference coordinator also applied. Zach Shay, the defensive coordinator at Northern Colorado, applied. Shay has been with the Bears for three years and is a longtime college assistant. He played at Iowa in the mid-1990s.

Earlier this week, Iowa State assistant head coach Bill Bleil applied. You can see that blog post by clicking here.
