Two possibilities have emerged for next head coach Chris Klieman's coordinators at North Dakota State: Tim Polasek as offensive coordinator and Matt Entz as defensive coordinator.
I've been told they are Klieman's choices, along with quarterbacks coach Randy Hedberg, to fill key positions on the Bison coaching staff once Klieman returns from FCS championship game in Frisco, Texas, next week. Here is the post I wrote earlier about Hedberg: Randy Hedberg could be headed to NDSU as assistant coach,
Tim PolasekPolasek is currently the tight ends and fullbacks coach at FBS Northern Illinois. He is a former key Bison assistant. Entz is the defensive line coach at Western Illinois, a fellow Missouri Valley Conference school.
NDSU fans are familiar with Polasek, an assistant under Craig Bohl for seven seasons. Polasek was running backs coach from 2007-2009 before becoming tight ends/fullbacks coach. He was also special teams coordinator his last three years at NDSU.
If Polasek is named offensive coordinator, it will be his first opportunity to call plays. Polasek was an assistant at Division III Wisconsin-Stevens Point before Bohl brought him to NDSU as a graduate assistant in 2006.
Also important to note: Polasek is a killer recruiter and specializes on his home state of Wisconsin, long an important area for NDSU.
Not as familiar to Bison fans is Klieman's reported choice for defensive coordinato, although Entz is well-known in the Missouri Valley league.
Currently the associate head coach and defensive line coach at Western Illinois, Entz was at Northern Iowa for the previous three seasons. He served as defensive line coach and last season was the Panthers' defensive coordinator.
According to the Western Illinois web site, Entz's 2012 defense at Northern Iowa posted two shutouts, ranked 28th nationally in scoring defense (21.4 ppg) and 31st in total defense (337.6 ypg).
Entz was an assistant at Division II Winona State from 2002-09. He also coached at Division II Wayne State (Neb.).
