Nearly 50 KFGO listeners/fishing enthusiasts are at Ballard's Resort on Lake of the Woods, Minn., for our radio station's annual summer trip to the Walleye Capital of the World.
After a solid start this morning, things slowed considerably in the afternoon -- after a great shore lunch cooked by our guides on Garden Island. The weather today was great. Probably too great, actually. The temperature was near 90 degrees after lunch and there was no wind, I mean NONE, on the big lake. That is rare.
And, our guide said, when the big lake goes flat, the fishing sucks. And it did in the afternoon. Although one woman in our boat who was on her first fishing trip, Jill Parsons of Fargo, landed a 25-inch walleye.
Here is a whole mess of photos from our day. We are back on the water tomorrow morning at 7 bells.
