UPDATE: Fargo angler wins ice-fishing trip with me on Devils Lake with high bid

by Mike McFeely

Andy Hardy of Fargo, a member of F-M Walleyes Unlimited, bid $250 to win a day of fishing with me on Devils Lake Saturday in the Wounded Warriors Guide Service tournament.

Here is what I wrote earlier today in an effort to draw some interest:Would you like to spend a day ice fishing with me on Devils Lake while donating money to a good cause?

Then call into the "Mike McFeely Show" today between 3:15 and 4 p.m. and make a bid to be my partner in the Wounded Warriors Guide Service Fishing Tournament this Saturday. The minimum bid will be $100 (the entry fee for the tournament), but we'll gladly take anything over $100.

The tournament is Saturday, based at Woodland Resort on Devils Lake. Fishing is limited to Creel Bay. Staging begins at 7 a.m., lines are in the water at 8 a.m. and the weigh-in begins at 3 p.m.

Ice-fishing shelters and pickups ARE allowed.

There are thousands of dollars in cash and prizes up for grabs, including prizes for different species. My guide buddy Jeff Katzer will give more details on prizes and the tournament at 3:05 on my show today.

What is Wounded Warriors Guide Service? Their web site says: "WOUNDED WARRIORS GUIDE SERVICE is a cost free guide service founded by veterans for veterans. We here at WOUNDED WARRIORS GUIDE SERVICE provide waterfowl hunting opportunities for our vets that have been wounded serving our great nation. At WOUNDED WARRIORS GUIDE SERVICE we are always preparing for the waterfowl season and decided that we want to share our great experiences with those who have sacrificed greatly for our country."

I cannot guarantee whoever submits the highest bid will catch fish with me, but we will give it the old college try. And we may even have a "Diet Pepsi" or two afterward. (No alcoholic beverages allowed during the tournament.)

So please call (701) 237-5948 after 3:15 today and make a bid. The weather forecast looks great and it should be fun.

NOTE: Winning bidder is responsible for transporation to Devils Lake and any lodging needed for himself or herself.
