104.7 goes soft and light, becomes Mix

by Mike McFeely

A couple of days after Midwest Radio of Fargo Moorhead blew up its conservative talk station 101.9 FM and brought Rock 102 back to the Fargo-Moorhead market they tweaked 104.7 FM.

Formerly Popster, 104.7 FM will now be known as 104.7 Mix FM, and has become "a mix of soft rock and soft pop songs," according to a press release from the company.

It will be the only adult contemporary station in the market.

The station is  geared toward adult women.

Here is the full press release from Peter Tanz, vice president of operations of Midwest Radio of Fargo Moorhead:

(Fargo, ND) 104.7 FM, Popster has been renamed 104.7 Mix FM.
Recent changes to the music played on FM 105 (to hard rock) gave 104.7 FM the opportunity to add soft rock favorites to the station's already popular playlist of ‘80s and ‘90s songs.
According to Peter Tanz, Vice President of Operations for the station, "The additional songs now being played on 104.7 made us think about how the name 'Popster' doesn't fit as well as it did. What we are playing is a mix of soft rock and soft
pop songs. Since listeners will hear a mix of similar songs now, let’s just call the station, Mix." 104.7 Mix FM is designed to appeal to adults who enjoy both old and newer songs that sound good played together. The station's presentation will continue to focus on the music with limited interruptions.
The station's new name became effective at 4 p.m. on September 10, 2013. 104.7 Mix FM is the only Adult Contemporary radio station in the Fargo-Moorhead market.
