Rick Just, my friend since the first grade is a very successful artist, author and dog lover. He is retired from state government in Idaho. Somehow, during our growing up years, he blossomed into a very talented author. He also is a very creative artist, working in all sorts of medium, including car parts as dogs. He is a former U-S Marine. (Thanks for your service, Rick.) He and I are still friends and stay in touch primarily via Facebook.
I am reading his latest book, called "Blood Anjels." (Correct spelling.) He creates a world, the likes of which only he could envision. He describes a biology of these creatures which is fascinating. His characters are those you find yourself caring about.
Rick sent me a copy of his book in the mail. Upon opening it Thursday night, I eventually discovered that he had DEDICATED this book to me. HE, a man I've admired so greatly for so long, has honored me by saying, "For Jack Sunday, who taught me to question" Upon finding the dedication, I was awash in emotion. (I AM a sap.) Even writing this I feel the emotion of that moment. And, upon reading the book, I know now why he chose ME, (ME!) for such an honor.
